Two great gardens break ground this week in Shaw

From Martin in Shaw:

The Scott Montgomery ES edible/educational student garden broke ground this morning with the help of several community residents, school staff and the Mayor’s Youth Conservation Corps crew. A pumpkin patch will be prepped this week set for a fall harvest.

CityBlossoms(.org) will begin their project on Marion Street on Thursday, again with the assistance of a team from the Mayor’s Youth Conservation Corps. Weather permitting, they will begin around 9:30am doing some prep work on a portion of the adjacent vacant lots on the 1500 block of Marion St doing a clean up and some planting.

We’ll a have more information available on both projects at next week’s CCCA meeting and in the following weeks. Volunteers are welcome on both projects..
