 3rd Street Tunnel Lighting System to be Tested at 10 a.m. Tomorrow

Lights Inside Tunnel will be Turned On and Off During Testing Activity

(Washington, D.C.) Starting at 10 a.m. tomorrow the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will be testing the new lighting system that was recently installed inside the northbound and southbound 3rd Street Tunnel. The new lights were installed as part of Air Rights Tunnel Project that is currently underway to rehabilitate and upgrade the tunnel.

While the testing activity is underway various sections of the lighting system will be turned on and off. The testing activity will continue until the new lights are fully activated.

Message boards have been placed adjacent to the entrances of the tunnel to advise motorists to use extra caution while driving inside the tunnel.
