Save the Dates – Our Neighborhood is Alive

Monday, April 4 at 7pm Bates Area Civic Association Meeting, Mt. Sinai Church on Q and 3rd ST NW – if you attend one meeting only, this may be it.

Guest list for the Civic Association Meeting Include:

Wonder Woman herself. Okay Chief of Police Kathy Lanier to discuss District summer crime prevention initiatives.

Mayor Vincent Gray – high ranking staff member will provide highlights of the new City Budget. Cuts, tax increases, fees and much more are on the table.

Parks and Recreations – Update on the renovations and designed for the Florida Avenue and First ST Park. Let’s see what $1.4 Million of our tax dollars will get us.

Pepco Smart Meter Workshop – All District Residents will be getting a smart meter as part of Pepco’s new smart grit. So come and learn how a meter will impact your home and wallet.

Come hungry. Chicken and Rice and soft drinks will be available. $5 suggested donations welcomed.

Saturday, April 2 9am – North Capitol Main Street Business Meeting. Rustic Tavern, 84 T ST NW.

Saturday, April 9 from 9am – 12pm – Free Mulch and Neighborhood Clean up. DPW Director William Holland had arranged for mulch to be delivered to the corner of P and First ST NW. It is time to beautify tree boxes and your yards. Easiest way to transport the mulch is by using your super can or the recycling bins. DPW is also making trash bags and tools for our neighborhood clean up. Who knows, maybe refreshments after?

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm – Neighborhood Walks. Free pedometer for BACA members who have paid their 2011 dues or $2 donation for non due paying members. We meet at the corner of P and Fist ST NW. Pedometers help you measure the steps you take all day long. Count your steps and your steps back to good health.
