Last Sunday, Jennifer, a neighbor, friend and long-time community activist, was attacked near her home on Bates Street. I don’t know details but she was apparently punched in the face. The offender was a juvenile that also lives in our community and the neighborhood has been shocked and angry.
Today, I saw en email string from Ward 5 Commander Lamar Greene:
The assualt involving Ms. Ragins has been closed with the arrest of a juvenile. This case required detectives to conduct a thorough investigation inconjunction with the OAG’s office.. This is an unfortunate incident but it is now closed. Thank you to those that assisted with this investigation.
and another from him in the email string said:
We have obtained a custody order (juvenile arrest warrant) for the child as of 5 pm today. There have been several allegations that detectives had to investigate before obtaining this warrant. We will place the child in custody very soon.
Thank you to our law enforcement. And Jennifer, our thoughts and prayers are with you.
