In regards to this post, I just got an email from a 1st Street resident:
It appears that this teen has been released already. I just saw him going between 120 Bates and 119 P Street, NW.
As we learned from Trena Carrington – Fifth District Community Prosecutor, US Attorney’s Office – who knows what could be happening with this case. (I will shortly post my own notes from the APR 6 BACA meeting where she spoke.) She explained that they could be gathering info against the juvenile even if he has released. They are not likely to tell us anything if this is the case, especially since the suspect is a juvenile. If we know the case number, we can check on what’s public information. If anyone does hear anything, we should keep each other informed and be proactive where possible. Despite the criminal problems, what makes our neighborhood great is how we all work together to make our community better.
