The DCDOG listserv says there is a biweekly working group meetings to establish a dog park in Ward 5.

Where: Saturday, April 18th at 12 noon at the Langdon Park Recreation Center located at 2901 20th Street, NE. Shana Fulton, Ward 5 Dog Group. I think they are aiming to put it in Langdon Park, see map below. It’s 2.5 miles from the TC/Dunbar Shaw area.

ALSO,  I just saw this notice for free dog vaccination clinics around the city, sponsored by the DC Dept of Health.

Announcing the DC Department of Health’s SPRING 2009 Free Animal Vaccination Clinics

District law requires that all cats & dogs, over four months old,
be vaccinated against rabies and distemper.
District law requires that all owners license their dogs and wear the license tag.

PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY VACCINATE YOUR PETS FOR RABIES – A FATAL DISEASE.

Cats and Dogs must be at least three (3) months old to receive a rabies vaccination.
The first rabies shot a cat or dog receives is good for one (1) year only.
All pets must be brought to the clinic by a responsible adult.
Dogs must be secured on a leash and cats must be secured in a carrier box.
Rabies & distemper shots are free with the purchase of a DC dog license.

A Dog license costs are $15 for a spayed or neutered dog and $50 for an unspayed or unneutered dog.

Make checks or money orders payable to “DC Treasurer”.  NO CASH ACCEPTED.
