“This morning [yesterday] at 9:45 AM a man was shot in the ankle while in the park located on the south side of Florida Ave at First Street NW. Only one shot was fired, police and EMS responded quickly. Alice Thompson, the Mayor’s point person for Ward 5 services, arrived soon after the police. The victim was transported to a area hospital. I was at the Big Bear Cafe and heard the shoot, at first I thought it might have been a car backfiring, sadly it was not.”
