Pete asked me to post this. (We’ll get him contributing himself here soon.) BACA thanks him for taking the lead on this:
There is interest in starting an Environmental Services Committee whose focus will be the beautification of the Bates Area. We are looking to recruit members to serve on this committee to develop and implement plans to:
– organize regular neighborhood and alley clean-ups
– identify beautification projects to enhance neighborhood appearance
– reach-out to groups, churches, and organizations to partner with us in the beautification of the Bates Area
– develop strong neighborly bonds through beautification
These are just a few ideas. We need your involvement and input make sure that this committee will make sure it serves the needs of the neighborhood.

Would the concept of block captains work well in this concept? There seems to be a simple need for ensuring that neighborhood information reaches every home. Block Captains and lieutenants could organize and inform he block quickly.
I think that is a great idea. Along those lines, I think we may need some sub-committees to give each of the objectives the attention they deserve.
