Saturday ScienceFest for kids on Nov 14

Miles Holloman of the BACA Youth Services Committee has asked me to post about this event at Howard University Middle School.  If interested, please contact BACA at bacadc@gmail.com to get an advance placement.

Dr. Vernon Morris, an Atmospheric Scientist  and a very good friend of Miles said the Saturday ScienceFest offers a unique opportunity for middle school students to experience fun and instructive hands-on activities in a variety of areas relevant to critical environmental issues that they see on TV and newspapers. The students will have a chance to interact with experts in the fields of climate change, environmental sciences, air pollution, and space weather.

The “Green Jobs” touted by President Obama are rooted in applications of basic science, yet most of these areas of science are not covered in schools.  Finally, the students can gain exposure to a university environment (HU) early enough for this to have a positive influence on their future decisions.
