This note is from Tracey on the unit block of P St NW. I thought I’d post it because I know others have been through this process:
Our block had signed a petition a year ago for zone restricted parking. We were told that we would have the zone parking sign by April, so everyone on the block with a car followed the directions to purchase the $15 zone permit, it’s now a month later and still no zone signs, yet we’ve paid for the permits.
My question is, if it takes another so many months to implement the signs, will the expiration date on the permit be extended? I feel that we have paid $15 so far for absolutely nothing!!! Why does it take so long to get anything done in this city?
Dear Tracey – as you know, with your assistance, we collected sufficient signatures to have the zoned parking approved. The zone parking was approved in September of 2009 and the order to have DDOT put up the signs was issued on March 12, 2010. Unfortunately we are DDOT’s mercy at this point. Council Member Harry Thomas and our ANC Anita Bonds have both taken action in response to your comment. Both our Council Member and ANC have engaged DDOT Director and this matter is being given immediate attention. I will continue to work with our Council Member’s office and ANC until the matter is resolved. Regards, Geovani Bonilla
