This is written to provide you with a friendly reminder of the Monday, July 12, 2010 meeting of the Bates Area Civic Association, Inc. as well as to give you a sense of the items that will be addressed in this forum. Please help us to spread the word to others about this monthly meeting and do make your best effort to attend.
Flower Power 2010:
The 30 minutes of this meeting will be dedicated to the recognizing of this year’s awardees in the BACA’s Flower Power 2010 Beautification Campaign. For the tremendous effort put into its production as well as the overall success of Flower Power 2010, I would like to offer a special note of heartfelt thanks to Planning Committee Chairperson Marie Maxwell, as well as to Committee Members Geovani Bonilla, MaryAnn Hammond, Kristin Killoran, Steve McKinney, Emogene McNeill, Caryn Nesmith, Terry Thomas, Derek Vollmer, and Member Emeritus MaryAnn Wilmer, respectively.
Summer of Safety 2010:
After we finish with the Flower Power 2009 celebration, Fayette Vaughn-Lee, Community Outreach Specialist for MPD’s Fifth District, is going to give us a brief overview of the activities being planned for youths in the Fifth District via the Summer of Safety 2010 Program.
Coalition for Voter Empowerment (C.O.V.E.) Update:
An update will be provided on this collaborative effort with the civic and community associations in the surrounding area to engage candidates for Mayor, Chairman of the City Council, At-Large City Council, and Ward Five City Council, in advance of the September 2010 Primary Elections.
