Bates Area Civic Association Upcoming Meeting

Dear Neighbors, the next Bates Area Civic Association meeting will be Monday, November 1, 2010 at Mt. Sinai Church (3rd and Q ST NW). During this meeting, we will hear from North Capitol Main Street about some of the economic incentives and other programs currently available to promote economic development in our area.

As we begin to plan our 2011 objectives and meeting agendas, we want to hear from you. Tell us what you want the Bates Area Civic Association to focus on in 2011? What city agencies do you want to hear from? What suggestions do you have? Please, get involved.

Some of the projects may include:

  1. Safety – want to be more involved in addressing safety concerns? Have ideas to share?
  2. Traffic – want to get involved in working with DDOT, Council Member, ANC and Mayor’s office in addressing traffic congestion and concerns?
  3. Economic development – want to be involved in upcoming projects, with North Capitol Main Street, Deputy Mayor’s Office, NOMA project and other key economic initiatives?
  4. Friend of the Park – after the $1.6 Million redevelopment of the Florida Avenue Park, would you like to help us bring arts, events and other programs to the park? Get involved with the Commission on Arts and Humanities to coordinate a grant?
  5. BACA Fund Raising Committee and Programs – Flower Power 2011, Community Beautification, Gala?
  6. What would you like to see on this list?

We encourage you to help our community thrive. Join BACA as an active member. Membership is $20. Email your comments to Geovani A. Bonilla at Mrgeovani@aol.com. MembershipForm.
