Youth Volunteer Opportunity

ANC Members,

We have a special opportunity for youth the ages of 10-20 to come and participate as a youth volunteer on Memorial Day, May 30, 2011. The youth will have an active role in the Wreath Laying Ceremony and the Memorial Day parade.

We are asking you to send the attached flyer to the youth in your neighborhood to contact us by email to let us know that they want to be a part of this great event! Students can earn community service hours while honoring World War II veterans in this momentous occasion.

This event will be covered by Fox News and USA Today!

There will be members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as well as former members of the Tuskegee Airmen! We hope that youth from your neighborhood will participate in this opportunity to honor these great veterans.

In addition, Here’s a link to Stories of Service, the intergenerational digital storytelling program that mobilizes youth to produce short videos with veterans of WWII and other eras. There is a free downloadable ToolKit that guides teachers through the process. http://www.Stories-of-Service.org This program is promoted to schools through National History Day and the History Channel.

Please come join the hundreds of youth volunteers who will be sharing in this volunteer effort!
