During the PSA 501 meeting on Wednesday, June 15, Sergeant John Durrough announced that the area from P ST NW south to N ST NW and from First ST NW east to N. Capitol ST NW is designated as a Drug Free Zone from June 15 – June 20th.
What does a drug free zone mean? It means that MPD may enforce temporary anti loitering laws and arrest individuals of 2 or more people loitering in the Drug Free Zone and that fail to disperse after being asked to do so.
This is just one of the tools MPD is utilizing to address community safety concerns. The more residents that engage MPD in our PSA meetings, the more focus MPD will give to our neighborhood. It is a partnership that makes it happen.
