At the Special 5C ANC Meeting, 8 of 12 ANCs present at the meeting voted unanimously to oppose Full Yum Carry Out’s application to obtain a Type A liquor license. This type of liquor license would provide Full Yum the ability to sell beer, wine and spirits at its current location at 1501 N. Capitol St. NE from the hours of 10am – 10pm, Monday through Saturday.
The ANC opposition supports protest resolutions passed by the Bates Area Civic Association, Eckington Civic Association and Hanover Civic Associations. There are 3 types of protest that may be filed; 1. ANC, 2. Civic Association Resolution and 3. Individuals. We have now secure all three types of protests. We encourage individuals to please file an individual protest as well.
Commissioner Tim Clark did ask the ANC to consider having plan on how the ANC will address requests from additional businesses to secure liquor license. Commissioner Clark raised the concern that we don’t want our area to be perceived as not being business friendly.
According to Full Yum’s attorney, Full Yum is seeking a Type A license because there is a moratorium on Type B licenses. With a Type A license however, we run the risk that Full Yum may wish to give up the restaurant business and become a liquor store only.
All protests to this license application must be received by ABRA by October 11th.

Isn’t a type B still carry out, but just beer and wine? If they want to be a restaurant they would be applying for a class D or C. From what I can tell, there isn’t anything blocking that type of license.
