Economic Development Committee 2012
At the March 5th Civic Association Committee we will be discussing our efforts to form an Economic Development Committee. If you are not able to attend the meeting but would like to be a part of this group, please email Geovani Bonilla at gbonilla@hospicemanagement.com
The Bates Area Civic Association is looking for individuals to lead economic development efforts in our community through:
- Work with North Capitol Main Street on $6,000 campaign to promote local businesses in our area
- Developing a Neighborhood Business Directory
- Developing and conducting a resident survey to determine what residents:
- Would like to see existing businesses offer in goods and services
- Determine potential local customer volume
- Determine local purchasing power
- Develop a proposal to local businesses to offer the goods and services residents would purchase locally
- Seek funding through different sources to develop a Neighborhood Investment Package to include:
- Neighborhood profile
- Local business profile
- Current business incentives available to start a business in the area
- Reach out to investors/developers in identifying local business sites and opportunities
- Work with Office of Planning and Deputy Mayor of Planning and Economic Development on
- J.F. Cook redevelopment
- Slater School redevelopment
- Small Area Plan
- Develop relationships with Real Estate Agents to coordinate Open Houses for vacant and occupied homes
