The District Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) will open its Customer Service Walk-In Center on April 16 (DC Emancipation Day) to provide free tax preparation of the District’s individual income tax returns. The center (located at 1101 4th Street, SW, Suite W270) will remain open from 8:15am to 4:00pm.
Taxpayers needing tax preparation assistance should bring:
- A copy of their completed federal tax return,
- Supporting W-2 forms and schedules, and
- A valid driver’s license or state identification.
All other offices within OTR, including the Customer Service Telephone Center, will be closed on April 16 in celebration of Emancipation Day.
Taxpayers who may need additional time to file their tax returns are reminded that they can submit and pay their FR-127 Extension of Time for Individual Income Tax online via the Electronic Taxpayer Service Center (ETSC).
District taxes are due April 17, rather than April 15 this year, as April 15 falls on a Sunday and April 16 is Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District.
Sherri Kimbel is Evans’ OTR liaison.
