Street Closures for Multiple Weekend Events

First Rising Baptist Church Parade

Saturday May 19, 2012, the First Rising Baptist Church Parade will be held from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm.

The parade will form at First Rising Baptist Church located at 602 N Street NW. The parade will proceed over the following route:

  • North on 6th Street to P Street, NW. West on P Street to 9th Street, NW
  • South on 9th Street to M Street, NW. East on M Street to 6th Street, NW.
  • North on 6th Street to N Street, NW, where they will disband at the First Rising Baptist Church.

Sound Bites Festival

Sunday, May 20 2012 the DC Central Kitchen and the 9:30 Club will host the 3rd Annual Sound Bites charity event, a festival of music and food from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The following streets will be closed.

V Street NW, between 8th Street and 9th Street; The 9:30 Club

Capitol Hill Classic 10K and 3K Run

Sunday, May 20, 2012, the Capitol Hill Classic 10K and 3K will hold it’s Annual Run. The 10K run will start at 8:30 am. The 3K run will start at 10:30 am.

The following is the route for this event:

East Capitol Street will be closed to traffic from 2nd Street, NE to RFK Stadium.

Motorists are advised that traffic on streets which intersect with the eventswill be adversely affected motorists therefore can anticipate possible delays pending the completion of this event. In light of those probable circumstances, motorists are advised to seek alternate routes or utilize public transportation if feasible.

In accordance with events such as this, the Metropolitan Police Department and the DC Department of Transportation urges motorists who may be in the area of this event to exercise extreme caution when driving to ensure the safety of the citizens of the District of Columbia.
