New York Avenue Between Penn Street and Florida Avenue To Be Closed Overnight On June 13 and June 29

Detour Will Apply to Westbound New York Avenue Starting at Penn Street and to Eastbound New York Avenue Starting at Florida Avenue

(Washington, D.C.) New York Avenue between Penn Street and Florida Avenue in northeast Washington is scheduled to be closed overnight at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13 through 5:00 a.m. the next day and at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29 through 11:00 a.m. the next day. These activities will be required to accommodate work associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Detours

Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6^th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue and eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue to 6^th Street and Penn Street and then back to New York Avenue.

 

Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
