New York Avenue Between Penn Street and Florida Avenue Will Be Closed Overnight Starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 29

Detour Will Apply to Westbound New York Avenue Starting at Penn Street and to Eastbound New York Avenue Starting at Florida Avenue

(Washington, D.C.) New York Avenue, NE between Penn Street and Florida Avenue will be closed starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 29 through 1 p.m. the following day to accommodate construction activities associated with the New York Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

Detours

  • · Westbound (inbound) traffic on New York Avenue will be redirected at Penn Street to 6th Street and Florida Avenue and then back onto New York Avenue.
  • · Eastbound (outbound) traffic will be redirected at Florida Avenue to 6th Street and Penn Street and then back to New York Avenue.

Traffic control personnel will be present at the start and end of the detours to keep traffic flowing and to direct motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Rhode Island Avenue or H Street, NE.

DDOT encourages all motorists to Stay Alert and follow all signs as they travel through this corridor.
