AARP DC Paid Internship Available

HELLO S.A.C.
We have a paid internship available immediately and up to September 7, 2012. Preferred candidate would be a college student; but will consider a high school student at junior or senior level. Candidate must be able to compose professional memoranda and emails, be very familiar with online/social media, and be able to think critically; and available Monday through Friday (exact hours to be determined). See general duties below:
  • Coordinates activities to support State office programs and events. Serves as a resource person to staff and volunteers. Participates in team meetings, maintains records, and prepares reports.
  • Prepares flyers, brochures, alerts, news releases, direct mail pieces, presentations and training materials with directions or draft format. Creates and/or coordinates large-scale communications, editing, or printing projects such as volunteer newsletters, review of program/issue materials, or presentations.
  1. Conducts on-line searches, gathers information, sorts data, and compiles reports. Oversees information dissemination and keeps staff and volunteers informed, as needed. Creates and maintains office databases.
Have individual write to me directly with a résumé (if available) and a paragraph explaining why s/he would want to intern with AARP. If s/he has no résumé, then s/he should provide a written description of their area(s) of study and GPA. All should provide full name, place of permanent residence, age, and level in either college or high school. Students under age 17 may be asked to provide evidence of parental consent to be eligible for placement.
