Councilmember Tommy Wells, Chairperson of the Committee on Libraries, Parks, Recreation, and Planning, announces a public hearing on B19-1016, the “Ward 5 Industrial Land Transformation Task Force Act of 2012”. The public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 10:00am in Room 412 of the John A. Wilson Building, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. This revised notice reflects a change in the date and time of the hearing. This hearing was rescheduled from Thursday, November 15th to accommodate the Council’s Legislative Meeting calendar. This notice has been abbreviated to give timely notice to the public.
B19-1016 would establish the Ward 5 Industrial Land Transformation Task Force (“Task Force”) to develop a strategic plan for the modernization and adaptive reuse of industrial land in Ward 5. The Task Force, which would be convened and facilitated by the Director of the Office of Planning, would be required to submit a report on this strategic plan to the Mayor and the Council by July 1, 2013. B19-1016 specifies the report’s content, including an analysis of the existing conditions of Ward 5’s industrial land, jobs and tax revenue generated by existing industrial uses, and goals and recommendations for modernization and adaptive reuse.
The Committee invites the public to testify. Testimony may be limited to 3 minutes for individuals and 5 minutes for those representing organizations or groups. Individuals and representatives of organizations who wish to testify should contact Tawanna Shuford at 727-8204 or tshuford@dccouncil.us, and provide their name, address, telephone number, and organizational affiliation (if any) by 5 pm on Friday, November 9, 2012. Witnesses are encouraged to bring 15 copies of their testimony and, if possible, to email an electronic copy to Ms. Shuford.
If you are unable to testify at the public hearing, written statements are encouraged and will be made part of the official record.
