Hypothermia Hotline for the Homeless

Please keep those that have less than you do in mind.

The period between November 1st to March 31st is the hypothermia season.

All homeless people must be housed when the temperature falls below 32 degrees, which is considered freezing temperatures.

You can help. Call the hotline when you see a homeless person who may be impacted by extreme temperatures. The Hypothermia/Hyperthermia Hotline, 1 (800) 535-7252, is operated by the United Planning Organization (UPO).

  1. Thanks for getting the word out! Folks can check to see if a Hypothermia Alert has been issued by going to the Department of Human Services website, dhs.dc.gov. The notice is directly under the photos. Also, I’ve developed a graphic about the Hypothermia Shelter Hotline number – people and orgs are welcome to use it on their website, blog, etc. susiecambria.blogspot.com . If this is not to your liking, design your own! And please let me know about it; I may just have to change mine.
