Community leaders and residents,
Mark your calendars, the District Department of the Environment (DDOE) is hosting an “EnergySmart DC” Public Information Meeting on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 6:00-8:00 pm at the District Architechture Center, 421 7th St. NW, Washington, DC 20004 (flier attached).
As community members and leaders, the EnergySmart DC plan is important to you because it will use real data to focus on issues and make recommendations in areas such as:
Reliability – During storms and as the city grows, we will focus on advances in technology that could minimize power outages to consumers.
- Equity – The EnergySmart DC will make recommendations to achieve efficiency in low and moderate income households as well as to improve the prospects for green jobs.
- Supply- Where we get our energy supply is also important so we will explore opportunities to obtain energy from renewable sources such as wind and solar.
- Efficiency- The EnergySmart DC plan will discuss opportunities to minimize energy use (think home insulation) to maximize cost savings.
- Environment- The plan will discuss the environmental impact of DC’s energy supply network including impacts to air quality, health, water, and municipal solid waste
