NPR Community Event: Documentary on History of Black Press

Enjoy a screening of The
Black Press: Soldiers Without Swords
this Friday, July 19 at the NPR
headquarters located at 1111 North Capitol Street, NE. This documentary explores
the history and influence of the black press in the United States; from the
evolution of the Freedom’s Journal in 1827 to the recent decline in
African-American-owned newspapers and everything in between. NPR Host and
Special Correspondent Michele Norris will moderate a panel discussion following
the screening. This movie showing is part of the larger March
on Washington Film Festival
, which is a free film festival in DC throughout
July.
