The Lobby Project officially launched last Thursday, November 14 with an art opening for Gabriel Mellan’s interactive exhibit. A buzz of excited attendees enjoyed poking the engaging sound sculpture, entitled Heptachord, curated by the Washington Project for the Arts. Gabriel’s work will continue to be on display through December 9.
Don’t miss ‘Nerds in NoMa’, on Tuesday, December 3 for a free speaker series that will let you explore the wonders of temporary urbanism from 6-8 PM. There will be six nights of nerdery, and the first set of talks, investigating temporary urbanism, will kick-off on Tuesday, December 3 from 6-8 PM. Bring your happy hour crowd for a few drinks and learn something new from the city’s top experts, including Director of the DC Office of Planning Harriet Tregoning, Founder and Managing Partner of verdeHOUSE Morgan Greenhouse and Co-owner and CFO of BicycleSPACE Erik Kugler. Food and libations will be available for purchase from Ravioli Revolution and Union Kitchen. Thank you MPD, Crime on the Decline
The NoMa Business Improvement District would like to commend the detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District for apprehending the two subjects in conjunction with the robbery and attack of a man on Thursday, October 17. The incident occurred at the H Street Underpass near 800 First Street at approximately 4 AM. The neighborhood greatly appreciates the swift closure to this case, as well as the continued persistence and dedication of the MPD to make NoMa and the District as a whole safer.   This case is just one piece of the larger trend of the decreasing crime in NoMa. Based on data from the MPD, total crime in NoMa between September 1-November 1 has decreased by 29% compared to this same period in 2012. In addition, total violent crime has decreased by 30% and burglary has dropped by an astounding 71%. Thank you, MPD, for all that you do for the neighborhood and the city! 

Camden NoMa Now Leasing 321 Apartments
Camden NoMa is now leasing 321 apartments in the heart of NoMa. Residents can lease apartments ranging from studios to two bedrooms with a den, featuring unique floor plans, a rooftop pool lounge, and a colorful fitness area. The apartments range from 462 SF to 1,360 SF, and rents are between $1,550 to $3,900. The brand new residential building touts comfortable community spaces, sustainable Energy Star stainless steel appliances, a ‘paw spa’ and is entirely smoke-free.
“Camden’s opening will bring still more people to NoMa,” said Robin-Eve Jasper, President of the NoMa Business Improvement District. “The neighborhood has become a very exciting and hip place to live.” Including Camden NoMa, 1,338 new apartments will be open in NoMa by next summer, bringing the neighborhood’s total to 3,945 total residential units. Ibiza Nightclub License Renewal
The license for Ibiza Nightclub at 1222 First Street NE is currently up for review by the Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration.  You still have time to submit letters to support or protest the renewal by Monday, November 25 to: ABC Board, 2000 14th Street, NW, Suite 400S, Washington, DC 20009. You may send a copy of your letter to ANC Commissioner Tony Goodman at 6C06@anc.dc.gov. A hearing is scheduled for December 9 at 10 AM on the fourth floor of 2000 14th Street, NW.

NoMa BID Welcomes New Economic Research Associate
Benjamin Rickelman joined the NoMa BID on November 18 as the NoMa BID Economic Research Associate. He received his master’s degree in Public Administration from The George Washington University. His responsibilities include financial projections, demographic research, and compiling the NoMa BID biannual assessment. Previously, Benjamin worked to implement program evaluations for the Department of Energy, research economic data for labor force changes, and analyze financial data. He has a strong interest in economic development  and enjoys life as District of Columbia resident.  

DC Donut Crawl Saturday
You’ve heard of pub crawls, but has anything ever sounded quite as delicious as a Donut Crawl? Probably not. Saturday, November 23 give your taste buds a treat at Chocolate Crust, GBD, Astro Donuts and Fried Chicken and District Doughnut. The last stop will be at NoMa’s very own Union Kitchen Lot, complete with heat lamps and the delicious District Doughnut fare. To cover the large distance between shops, participants are encouraged to bike. BicycleSPACE is supporting the crawl and will be providing volunteers to help the crawlers navigate between stops. NoMa Walmart to Open in December
Did you know that DC’s first two Walmarts will open at 8 AM on December 4, including the store located at 99 H Street, NE? The  80,000 SF Walmart located in NoMa is part of a larger mixed-use project by the JBG Companies including residential apartments.
