35th Annual Washington Area Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service

The public and media are invited to attend The 35th Annual Washington Area Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Service which will take place at 11:00 am at the Washington Area Police Memorial Fountain in front of Police Headquarters, 300 Indiana Avenue, NW.  Presented in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Department, the Fraternal Order of Police D.C. Lodge #1, and the Washington DC Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors, this annual service and dedication recognizes the members of the Washington-area law enforcement family who have given their lives in service to their communities.  This year, we will honor five local heroes who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2013.  Please join us as we honor those fallen officers from the past three decades.

Members of the news media are invited to attend.

In conjunction with this event the following streets will be closed beginning at 6:00 am and should reopen by 2:00 pm:

  • D Street, NW – from 3rd Street, NW to 4th Street, NW
  • Indiana Avenue – from 4th  Street, NW to 5th Street, NW

Motorists are advised that the above streets will be closed to both public and police parking to allow for street cleaning prior to the service.  Only vehicles participating in the ceremony will be allowed to park in these areas.

Due to the heavy pedestrian crowds associated with these events, motorists are encouraged to exercise caution when traveling in these areas.  In addition, those wishing to attend this event are encouraged to use public transportation.
