Interested In a Community Garden?

Everybody Grows is a nonprofit organization that has collaborated with the D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department to establish community gardens at selected firehouses.  This activity provided the participating companies with a tremendous opportunity to engage the community that proved successful.

The following engine companies will host planting sessions on Saturday, May 17, 2014:

 

9 a.m., Engine 26, 1340 Rhode Island Ave. NE

11 a.m., Engine 30, 50 49th St. NE

1 p.m., Engine 32, 2425 Irving St. SE

 

A variety of vegetables (i.e. tomatoes, peppers, corn, etc.) and herbs (i.e. basil, sage, oregano, etc.) will be planted. At the end of the growing season, engine companies are encouraged to share their harvest with the community and prepare meals from the gardens.
