(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) announced a brand new addition to the summer programming offerings for the District of Columbia. Starting on June 30, DPR began to offer evening and late night programming throughout the city.
“Enhancing our quality of life and well being by participating in recreation and leisure experiences is vital. We become motivated to seek out satisfying encounters with others that are positive and contribute to building strong interpersonal and community relationship. The beneficial outcome of recreational engagement is characterized by feelings of mastery, achievement, exhilaration, acceptance, success, and personal worth. It reinforces a positive self-image,” DPR Acting Director Sharia Shanklin shares.
“The Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies awarded DPR accreditation because of our commitment to organizational excellence and customer service. Further, DPR has the vision to be the national leader in urban recreation and parks administration and to be District residents’ primary source for leisure activity. Throughout the long hot days of summer, DPR has planned summer fun for everyone! The opportunities below are some of the ways DPR provides the ability to MOVE.GROW.
