- 3 children from our community to be recognized by Metropolitan Police and Bates Area Civic Association for their outstanding citizen behavior. Three local children ran to assist a victim of an assault with deadly weapon and provided the victim a cell phone to call 911 and stayed with the victim until MPD arrived. The recognition will take place at the Monday, September 8 Bates Area Civic Association Meeting.
