DDOT to Engage in Nighttime Lane Closures on I-395 between New York Avenue and Southeast/Southwest Freeway on March 3
Rolling closures are due to icicle-removal work
(Washington, DC) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close lanes on I-395 on a rolling basis in both directions between New York Avenue (US Route 50) and the Southeast/Southwest Freeway (I-695), starting at midnight on Tuesday, March 3, and ending at 4 am the following morning.
Due to frigid temperatures, icicles have formed and are hanging from the roof of the tunnel bores. DDOT intends to remove the icicles to keep the roadway safe. The repairs, which do not require full closures, are expected to last only 90 minutes.
Motorists are advised to remain alert while traveling through these lanes, and to observe DDOT’s personnel clearing the icicles.
