Residential Parking Petition Unit Block of P ST W

We have collected 18 signatures to make the unit block of P ST NW (between First ST and N. Capitol) residential parking only between the hours of 7am and 8:30pm M-F. This is due to our neighbors coming home from work and having no place to park because of all the Maryland and VA registered vehicles that come to work at the new business locations around NY Ave and N. Capitol ST and the schools. If you would like to sign the petition, please contact Geovani Bonilla at 202-483-1446.

  1. Great–we live on that block and signed the petition. Thanks for taking the initiative to get that done. Next up: a speed bump or two to slow down some of the cars racing to make the lights at both ends of the block.

  2. JD – thanks. This weekend I plan to have the 51% of the block’s houses signatures to move it through. We are also working on getting a speed bump or other type of mechanism to slow traffic down between on P ST NW N. Cap and First ST.

  3. Is 7am~8:30pm M-F the usual signage? I ask out of forgetfulness. I thought RPP ended at 6:30pm. I could be wrong. I’m hoping it is 8:30pm. It might have been 6:30pm where I lived in SW. I am hoping that getting the two extra hours from 6:30pm to 8:30pm does not require the grand-poohba of all petitions. Also, it seems the term ‘speed-table’ is were a crosswalk is combined with a speed hump. Pls consider one of those right between Slater and Langston schools.

  4. Residential parking permit is from 7am – 8:30pm. The hours have been extended. In some areas, it has even been extended to 9pm. Regarding the speed table or hump – DOT is looking at different options; it appears DOT is not looking to ad speed bumps because of the damage it causes to emergency response vehichels. I am only 3 house holds short having the required number of signatures for the petition.
