Residents who don’t subscribe to the Truxton Circle site should be aware of the attack reported below. This follows the shooting at 4th and Q. As near as I can tell, the endlessly discussed low level of consistent police presence remains a relevant issue – to put it mildly.

Last night around 8:30 while taking out the trash, my husband was held up at gun point by two young men–steps from the entrance to our house. We know that we live in a very dangerous area, but this brazen act was a new low. Given the number of violent attacks in our vicinity over the past year, we know that the city either does not care about our security or is unable to ensure even a basic level of security for its citizens.

We’re on the corner of R and Florida-R side. It was well lit and (we thought) fairly safe because cars are always driving by. The most upsetting part about this is that we were doing everything right-not walking around late at night, making safe decisions, and some kids pulled two guns on him in front of our house.
