Given the close proximity of the meeting and our issues, neighbors should voice our concerns at the following meeting, announced by ANC2c01 Commissioner Alex Padro (Shaw) announced this on the Shaw listserv:
At-Large Councilmember Phil Mendelson will be holding a public meeting at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 1410 7th Street, NW, on Monday, April 13, 2009, at 6:30 PM to discuss public safety issues. Mendelson is the chair of the DC Council’s Committee on Public Safety and the Judiciary, which has oversight over the Metropolitan Police Department. Representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department will also be attending to field your questions.
This would be a great opportunity to raise concerns about the increase in drug activity and shootings in the neighborhood, and to press for more foot patrols along 7th and 9th Streets.
