The D.C. fire department responded to a fire this morning at the Kelly Miller Apartments at 253 V Street NW.
DCHA has given the following information:
Though nine units were being inspected, only three are being impacted.
1) Fire Unit: A female was treated on site for minor smoke inhalation and refused further treatment. That family will be relocated, and an investigation will take place.
2) Unit Next Door to Fire Unit: Female tenant and child will spend a couple of days out of the unit to allow it to vent. They will be coming back.
3) Unit Above Fire: Suffered some smoke damage. Family will be relocated until unit is rehabbed.
DCHA will be investigating cause of the fire. DCRA and Red Cross will be assisting the families. Displaced families will be temporarily located in hotels. Alternative DCHA housing will be found for them.
More information as it becomes available.
