Billboard Weekly Update

Here’s a wrap up of events for the NJ and P St Billboard Removal Campaign for the week of July 27.

  • Tuesday, July 28: Presentation at Convention Center Community Association (CCCA). Thanks to our neighbors in Ward 2 for their support!
  • Friday, July 31: Press in the City Paper – Cleaning D.C. Streets, One Billboard at a Time
  • Saturday, Aug 1: Petition Drive at City Vista – The number of petition signatures continues to grow. Stay tuned for the next event!

  1. Not sure if anyone has noticed the graffiti on the boards ….. one has NSB (no sure what that means) and the other reads “Bros before Hoes”. The latter is written faintly but obviously adds no value to our neighborhood.

  2. 2 gang-related uses of “NSB” are “North Side Boys/z” – widely used in many large cities to refer to different groups – and the more specific “Newberry Street Boys” referring to a gang that is most well-known for its role in the York, PA race riots of 1969. NSB is also the name of a marginally popular Latino hip-hop group. Three-letter “tags” are often related to gangs marking their territory and billboards are frequent targets.
