On 8/2/2009, I posted here the announcement that the DC Council had authorized the land disposition of Northwest One.
A follow up question by “Barefootvet” at the DC BACA blog was then posted: “So does anyone out there know how this land disposition fits into the larger development schedule for Northwest One? Does this mean some significant next step can now begin?”
I contacted the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development (DMPED). I received the reply below from Nakeisha Neal:
Thanks for your interest. A summary of next steps for NW1 is below.
· Walker Jones School Ribbon Cutting, August 11, 10:30 AM
· Northwest One Recreation Center and Library Opening, November 2009
· Sursum Corda Cooperative is currently negotiating with One Vision Development Partners to redevelop their site; they expect to reach agreement by early fall.
· Golden Rule Center. The developers applied for 9% tax credits from the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) to build 60 units of affordable housing (at 60% of Area Median Income or below) on First & L St, NW . They expect to hear from DHCD by September. If they receive the 9% tax credits, they expect to complete this project within 18 months.
· Site 2. North Capitol & M Sts NW. Developers will be in the ground by May 2010; completion expected 18-22 months thereafter. 313 units total, 93 affordable including 54 units for former Temple Courts residents.Best wishes,
