Once again, Congress is attempting to interfere with DC’s local laws by virtually eliminating the District’s ability to administer a needle exchange program. Like every jurisdiction in the United States, DC’s elected officials are in the best position to make decisions on critical issues such as this. Over and over again, members of Congress use the District as a testing ground for misguided and even dangerous legislation. Let’s stand together to tell Congress that the residents of Washington, DC will not tolerate congressional interference on local matters.

Tomorrow, December 1, Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and several organizations will gather for “Save DC Needle Exchange Day” on Capitol Hill. Following a press conference at 9:30 AM, you will have the opportunity to visit House and Senate offices to urge members of Congress to remove a new needle exchange ban pending in the Senate. Tell Congress to leave DC’s local laws to DC’s elected officials.

What: Press conference followed by House and Senate office visits
When: World AIDS Day, Tuesday, December 1 at 9:30 AM
Where: Rayburn House Office Building, Room 2154 (Nearest Metro: Capitol South, Blue and Orange Lines)
