Old Bates Market renovated and ready, but for what?

The owner of the newly renovated property at the corner of 3rd and P St is looking for a leaser.  Remember that he spoke to the BACA back in August about his plans.  He wants to get something in there that the neighborhood would enjoy. It seems for now that his rumored plans for a Georgian (country of) social club have been put off.  The renovations are gorgeous.   If there is any interest out there for this property (can anyone say neighborhood  grocery store/cafe co-op?), he’s open to offers/suggestions. Comment here or contact me.

  1. Assuming it is either: A restaurant, cafe, convenience store, wine store

I will be spending lots of money there. I look forward to something in the neighborhood! This is a cornerstone to the kind of good growth we need to see in our neighborhood. I am ready and willing to support my local… whatever it becomes!

  2. I think they would make a lot of money if they have hand-dipped ice cream. No other place in the area has hand-dipped ice cream. They have a nice big patio that would be great if it had picnic tables in the summer. Plus, it would be a way to engage the whole community, including students from Dunbar after school.

  3. PUT UP AN AD! From the outside the market does not look like it is available. While financing is still a change for us, I would like to speak to the owner.
