Have you patronized the Pound Coffee place at the New York Avenue Metrorail station?
See this message from Karl Johnson:
Pound is having its big promotion next week. We are launching a “Discover Pound” campaign and I was hoping you might be able to post something to the blog about this. I’m really hoping a lot of locals will come check us out and take in a local, independent shop. The blizzard and the feds being closed really killed us, and we need to make up for it somehow…so it seems like a great time to re-launch ourselves now that we also have some amazing food offerings coming together at the same time.
Pound is a unique premium coffee shop and cafe that specializes in what we call “comfort food from around the world.” Pound is in the rapidly growing area of NoMa, across from the NY Ave Metro on 2nd St NE. With a daily Rice & Spice hot lunch special from a different region of the world everyday, on top of our fair trade, organic coffee and special hand-crafted lattes and drinks, we feel that Pound is something special in an area most Washingtonians haven’t visited. Both my business partner and I are travel, culture and food obsessed people and we bring those passions into everything we do at Pound.
We believe so strongly in what we have to offer that we are launching a half price latte special all week next week from Monday 2/22 through Friday 2/26. All espresso based drinks are 50% off!n We even have a few custom drinks we’ve created that will be featured each day (Nutella latte anyone?)!
Half Price Latté Week!
Come see us at 1300 2nd Street NE @ NY Ave Metro (Red)
Pound delivers the deluxe of the deluxe, the premium of the premium, the crème de la crème, the delicious of the delicious…the BEST hand-crafted lattés and espresso drinks around. We use fair trade and organic beans! Rediscover Pound with a different latté every day of the week. All espresso based drinks are 50% off regular prices from Monday (2/22) through Friday (2/26).

What are their hours and days of operation? Everytime I have been by their store, they are always closed. It looks like unless you work at the ATF building or use the NY Avenue Metro stop during the work week, you are out of luck. I’d enjoy stopping by but if they aren’t open in the evenings or on weekends, how can they get the business?
Hey Rob, You’re right, here’re the hours: Monday – Friday 6:00 am to 5:00 pm
Saturday and Sunday CLOSED. I fixed the link so you can check out their website yourself. http://www.poundcoffee.com/index.php
Have they looked at opening up on Saturdays at least for a while? I can’t believe they think they wouldn’t have any business – Five Guys doesn’t seem to be lacking in customers on weekends.
Sorry for missing these comments before, but I wanted to let everyone know that Pound’s hours have changed to include nights and Saturdays! Pound’s hours are now:
M-F 6:30AM to 7:00PM
Saturday 8:00AM to 4:00pm
Business is definitely slow right now during these expanded hours, but we hope this allows our neighbors to come by and hang out with us more now!
Karl, that’s great! I’ll try to get the word out!
