Metropolitan Branch Trail
Weekend cyclists might want to check the new section of the Metropolitan Branch Trail. The opening this week of the 1.5-mile segment between New York Avenue and Franklin Street NE means people can bike or walk on four miles of paved trail between Union Station and Catholic University.
Eventually, the trail will continue north to Silver Spring and connect with the Capital Crescent and Anacostia Tributaries trails. The trail follows the Red Line and will be convenient to seven Metro stations.
