Got this from another neighborhood listserv:
Heads up…looks like the United House of Prayer Memorial Day Parade will be this Saturday May 29.
This parade will effectively shut down the neighborhood from about 11:30 to about 2:30 -3:00pm. They march up 6th Street from about M street up to Rhodes Island then over to 7th and back down to M street. I haven’t seen the actual route and last year they went all the way up to Florida before coming down 7th. Regardless, the entire area between 6th and 7th and at least Rhodes Island to M will be held captive until the event is over. This parade has been happening for decades. If you need to go somewhere next Saturday, make sure you park outside of this area or you will be trapped until the parade is over.
Borderstan calls it a wonderful, beautiful parade. And somebody else said it’s very fun, esp for kids.
