It’s summertime at Perry Center, Inc and the programs are buzzing! We are busy planning some unique opportunities for our clients. As a multi-purpose social services center, we continually look to improve clients’ health, provide educational opportunities, youth programming, access to top of the line computers, creative outlets through the arts and job training skills for employment.
Here is a sneak preview of what we have in store for this summer:
- Social Services will serve families through our new series of Budgeting Workshops and, as always, provide counseling for our youth and families. Planning is underway for the annual Community Day where the neighborhood gathers for a picnic, fun and games, and distributes backpacks filled with school supplies.
- Economic Empowerment will continue to provide GED and job readiness classes and offer morning and evening computer classes. Another wildly successful job fair attracting local vendors for potential hires will be organized, while job training and researching employment opportunities continues.
- Youth Development and HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) will provide a summer camp to over 100 youth and will stay busy building underwater robots and seine fishing in the Chesapeake Bay with NOAA, planting and nurturing our own Perry Center garden, designing and painting a mural with City Mural Arts, visiting the National Colonial Farm with Little Friends for Peace and much more!
