Disturbing recent crime trends

Geovani, our neighborhood crime watchdog, sent this email around:

Tuesday morning there was an armed carjacking on 100 block of P St NW. This is our 2nd armed car jacking on P ST. The first was a week ago at P and N. Capitol ST NE. Please forward this message to other neighbors you know are up early and park on the streets in the neighborhood. First ST at O and N ST also has had gun robberies take place recently. Yesterday we had a purse snatch at the 200 block of P ST NW.

I will follow up with MPD to see what changes they are doing in their strategy to address this spike in crime. I will also follow up regarding the complaint that the 911 Operator on Saturday informed a neighbor that there is no police shift supervisor or patrols assigned to our neighborhood between the hours of 11pm and 7am.

Regards,

Geovani Bonilla

  1. I have also noticed an increase in crime in our immediate area. I would like to put pressure on the local police and politicians to increase surveillance and enforcement. Who should I call or write to express my opinions about the need for more government support?

We need to nip this disturbing trend in the bud. If the government will not support us, we should establish night citizen patrols, which will be tasked with shooting criminals in the face before they can carry out their intended crimes.
