Roadside Organics and the Hip Hop Caucus join forces with DC’s premier chefs and hip hop artists to host a Local Food Block Party.

The free event is part of 350.org’s Global Work Party and will feature seasonal food cooked by several of DC’s best chefs — Marou Ouattara of Kora Restaurant, Dan Giusti of 1789, Brendan Cox of DC Coast, and Nathan Anda of Red Apron Butchery.

Sweetgreen’s Sweetflow Mobile will stop by to serve yogurt with a selection of seasonal local toppings such as baked cinnamon apples and more. love their frozen yogurt, they use Stoneyfield, yum! Meat and produce will be sourced locally from Tuscarora Organic Growers, Arganica Farm Club, and Eco-Friendly Foods. The event will be partially powered off the grid by a solar ambulance.Throughout the afternoon, speakers – including Rev. Lennox Yearwood of the Hip Hop Caucus, vegan chef Lauren Von Der Pool, Dr. Eleanor Traylor of Howard University, and Kari Fulton of CheckTheWeather.net – will discuss the power of local food to uplift our communities, improve our health and revitalize our local economy.
