Washington, DC-Ward 5 Councilmember Harry “Tommy” Thomas, Jr., in partnership with the Diamond Dream Foundation and the Senators Little League of Ward 5, will be sponsoring a baseball clinic for DC youth ages 5 to 12 on Saturday, October 16, 2010, from 12 noon to 3 pm, at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. Event details are summarized below.
The clinic will provide DC youth with the chance to learn the basics of baseball from former and local baseball greats like Fred Valentine (Washington Senators), Al Brumbry (Baltimore Orioles and San Diego Padres), Bill Swaggerty (Baltimore Orioles), Ken Dixon (Baltimore Orioles), and Paul Blair (New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles). There is no cost to register, but space is limited. Balls and gloves will be given away to the first 50 children who are registered.
