Your Involvement Makes All The Difference

We all benefit from making our neighborhood safer and more attractive. Working recently with several investors that have chosen to open their business north of our community, the key has been “the neighborhood”. Investors look at the attractiveness and cleanliness of the neighborhood, in addition to the safety of the neighborhood prior to investing.  So let’s make this the most desirable neighborhood to invest in.

Flower Power 2011An Event In Three Acts.

Act I

On Saturday, June 11th, Bates Area Civic Association due paying members can help beautify our tree boxes with a free rose bush. BACA will provide all BACA members that have paid their 2011 membership a rose bush to be planted in one of our community tree boxes. The goal is to make our streets as clean and attractive so that those driving by or investors scouting the area see we take pride in our neighborhood. If you are not a members, membership is $20 and BACA funds are used towards neighborhood improvement projects.

Act II

The neighborhood walk will take place, Saturday, June 25th. This is a great opportunity to meet neighbors throughout, look at the wonderful front and back yards our neighbors have developed and to judge the best tree boxes in the area.

The Flower Power Committee will solicit and nominate front yards and tree boxes for our annual neighborhood walk and garden contest.

Act III

Flower Power Reception following the Neighborhood Walk. This is a great opportunity for 50 or more neighbors that participate to come together, meet each other, relax and enjoy some refreshment.

This event cannot take place without volunteers. Please, click on the Project Planto see the activities that need to take place to make this a great neighborhood event. To volunteer, please contact Geovani A. Bonilla gbonilla@hospicemanagement.com

National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2nd – Neighborhood Party and Crime Awareness Event

This event is a national program that brings community members and Metropolitan Police together to raise crime awareness. Plans for this event (given that we have enough volunteers to help organize it) include: block party at the Unit Block of Q ST NW, food, activities including rock climbing and bouncer, and plenty of neighbors. We will also coordinate with MPD to have different MPD resources and vehicles and equipment. MPD equipment may include: SWAT team, cruisers and other equipment. Please help us make this a great event by volunteering. Please let Geovani A. Bonilla gbonilla@hospicemanagement.com know if you are able to volunteer organize this event.

  1. Is there a chance we can get replacement pots for some of the rose bushes on 1st st? It looks like a good number have gotten damaged, tagged or otherwise ruined.
