OPEN TOUR OF COOK SCHOOL BUILDING
Thursday, July 21, 2011 @ 1:00 p.m.
The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education and Department of Real Estate Services invite you to join us for a walk-thru of the former JF Cook Elementary School Building, located at 30 P St NW. Our offices, in partnership with ANC Commissioners Sylvia Pinkney and Bradley A. Thomas, and the office of Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr., are working with YouthBuild Public Charter School to identify potential partners for the redevelopment and reuse of this facility.
The tour will last approximately one hour and will begin promptly at 1:00pm on Thursday, July 21st. All are welcome, however please be advised that because this facility is not currently in use there may be debris and other material in the walkways that may make it difficult for some individuals to access parts of the building. If you have any questions, please contact Ahnna Smith (Ahnna.smith@dc.gov or 202-727-0696).
Can someone take pictures of the inside? For those of us who can’t take off work that day it would give us a chance to see what we have in this neighborhood
Maybe I’m the only one, but it’s not so easy to stomach the accusations surrounding CM Thomas. I understand he’s now being investigated by the Feds but that civil lawsuit from the DC attorney general was pretty loaded and *very* specific with it’s accusations.
Having said that, I think CM Thomas’ involvement with such future projects doesn’t really help us now. He’s not going to be there much longer and we need someone to see this thing through. Also, there’s something to be said about having someone we can trust in office!
