Notice of Public Hearing for New Side Walk Café at 1514 North Capitol Street
Uncle Chips Cookies Café and Desserts should be opening in our neighborhood (next to the barber shop on N. Capitol and Bates) before the end of the year. You may visit their website at http://www.unclechips.com/about-us.html.
The opening was delayed due to construction. A part of the café will include a sidewalk café. A public hearing regarding the sidewalk café permit is scheduled for Thursday, November 17th, 2011 at 9am at the DCRA Building located at 1100 4th Street SW, 2nd floor, Washington, DC 20024.
The Bates Area Civic Association has issued a letter of support for this project, which will not only bring much needed economic development to the 1500 block of N. Capitol Street NW, but also provide our 2,800 neighbors a place to enjoy a quality cup of coffee and dessert locally.

Any updates on the N. Cap Firehouse restaurant???
The Firehouse has agreed to a voluntary agreement with the community and is applying for the liquor license. The work permits are ongoing and renovations are still going on. The owner is looking for new investor for the restaurant. I will update the community as more information becomes avaialble.
