medical marijuana dispensary at 1334 N. Cap St NW makes first cut

DCist reports “Four Medical Marijuana Dispensaries Make First Cut” — one of which is in Truxton Circle at 1334 North Capitol Street NW.

“Of the 17 applicants vying for five dispensary licenses, only four met the basic threshold set by city rules during a first review. Their applications will next be forwarded to the ANCs where they are located for comment, and on June 25 the city will grant licenses to those that make the second cut.”

What do you think?  How do you think ANC 5C will comment?

  1. This is a big risk for the Hanover Place neighborhood. This could go either way (if it is approved). A well run, and safe dispensary could be a real anchor for a business district there. Might even bring a large private security and MPD presense. Parking might be an issue. If this goes poorly, expect the muggings on that corner to go up. The devil is in the details of who owns and how they manage the dispensary. More facts please.

  2. Okay, I’ll take the bait. What kind of businesses would be drawn to locate near the anchor of a medical marijuana dispensary?

  3. Good luck to them, and I hope knee-jerk anti- reaction doesn’t kill the possibility of this really helping people
